We are a team of dedicated professionals working to break barriers on the continent of Africa.
Currently, 1 in every 36 children are diagnosed with Autism in the United States of America according to the CDC. While Autism rates in Africa vary wildly due to reporting and the stigma surrounding this diagnosis, estimates are 1%-2% of the world's population may have Autism or a related disability.
Our mission at Autism Africa Foundation is to Break Through Barriers!
Many barriers exist for families and stakeholders of those with disabilities all over the world including community stigma, lack of training, and resources. Our goal is to break through those barriers and help further the knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis.
Once a year, the Autism Africa team offers group trainings in decreasing problem behaviors and increasing desired skills. This allows parents, caregivers, and professionals in the field an opportunity to learn basics in Applied Behavior Analysis to help break barriers and grow independence! These trainings are offered free of charge in the Nairobi, Kenya area.
An assessment can be completed using the Assessment of Behavioral Cusps as well as other tools such as the Vineland III. Assessments are completed following the yearly trainings free of charge! Autism Africa Foundation also offers more comprehensive assessment for a small fee throughout the year.
Autism Africa Foundation is excited to have begun offering direct Applied Behavior Analysis services to children diagnoses with Autism. These services range from 4 to 10 hours per week, and there is a small fee for the service. Please contact us for more information.
